The Gospel Ministers’ Academy

Fire and foundation. Twelve modules for those preparing to serve.

Pentecostal ministry has never lacked zeal. What it has too often lacked is structure — a written confession, someone permitted to correct the leader, and something to stand on when the founder is gone. This Academy exists to supply that, without asking anyone to be less Pentecostal.

Ours is a church-support ministry: we plant no church and keep no convert — we exist to serve yours. We train ministers for your congregation, not for ours.

Before you apply, find out where you actually stand

The Ministry Readiness Check is 55 statements across eleven areas — call and formation, character, doctrine, handling Scripture, prayer, Word and Spirit, preaching, evangelism, pastoral care and safeguarding, accountability, and readiness to serve.

It takes about an hour, it scores you out of 220, and it names the three areas you should work on first. It is not an entrance examination and there is no pass mark. Nobody sees your answers unless you send them.

Take the Ministry Readiness Check

Why we ask you to do this first. Most people applying for ministry training assume they need more knowledge. Usually what they need is accountability, or rest, or someone to tell them the truth. An hour with the Readiness Check will tell you which — and it may tell you that you are readier than you thought.

Each module runs for one week, with a live 90-minute session and work to complete in between. Every module ends in something produced — not notes, but a document, a sermon, a plan, or a decision.

How it runs

Twelve weeks, ninety minutes a week

Live and recorded

One 90-minute session each week, online. Every session is recorded, so a missed week is not a lost week — but attendance is expected, because formation happens in the room.

Work between sessions

Two to three hours a week of reading and applied work. Each module ends in something produced. You will finish holding twelve things you did not have before.

A cohort, not a course

Between eight and twenty students, who know each other by name. You will be asked to pray for one another, and to be honest with one another. Many find this the most valuable part.

Under supervision

Every student names a local pastor or mentor who knows them. We ask that person one question at the start and one at the end. Teaching without supervision produces confident people who have never been corrected.

Certification

What the certificate requires

The Certificate in Gospel Ministry is awarded on completion, not on attendance alone. We would rather award fewer certificates that mean something.

Attendance

Ten of the twelve live sessions.

The work

Ten of the twelve module outputs submitted, including the statement of faith, the sermon, and the rule of life.

A sermon preached

One sermon prepared, preached in a real setting, and reviewed honestly with your mentor.

Safeguarding

Module 11 completed without exception. This one is not negotiable, and no certificate is issued without it.

A reference

A short statement from your named local pastor or mentor.

The register

Every graduate is entered on the WAMI register, which is maintained permanently and can be confirmed to any church that asks.

Fees

What it costs

Formal theological training costs thousands of pounds, and many who complete it are repaying that debt for years. Our founder is one of them. This Academy teaches the same ground for a fraction of it, and nobody should finish here owing anything.

Where you areRegistrationProgramme fee

Full-time Bible college studentsHalf the aboveHalf the above
Sponsored placesFree — two per cohort, for rural and low-income ministers

Included: all twelve live sessions and recordings, the three set texts, both Reflect and Apply workbooks, the Ministry Structure Pack of eleven templates, certification, entry on the permanent WAMI register, and membership of the alumni network.

Instalments: registration on enrolment, then the programme fee in three payments across the twelve weeks. No surcharge.

If the fee is a genuine barrier, write and say so. Two sponsored places are held in every cohort for ministers in rural and low-income congregations, and they are awarded on need rather than on merit. Nobody else in the cohort is told. We would rather train you than be paid.
The Ministry Readiness Check remains free, always. It costs nothing, requires nothing, and you may take it without any intention of applying. Several people each cohort take it, discover they need rest or accountability rather than training, and act on that instead. That is a good outcome.
